Adventures in Seward: Of Porpoises, Otters, and Silver Salmon

After a few more days of unwinding, I chartered a boat for a leisurely ride, and perhaps a bit of fishing. As we glided across the water, the fish finder hummed with anticipation. Then, a sudden splash like an unexploded depth charge. I rushed to the bow and witnessed a group of playful dal porpoises, jumping and racing through the waves. One mischievous soul emerged for air and playfully showered me with water.

Later, we spotted an odd object floating on the water, resembling a log but not quite. Upon closer examination, it revealed itself to be an otter, its weathered face indicating its age. Floating serenely, seeking warmth for its feet.

Before lunch, I found luck in abundance, hooking two silver salmon and a rockfish. A day of triumph and serenity, like no other.
